Types Of Psychology

Like any psychology student will tell you, there are many different degrees and types of psychology available. And not just the kind where you go from level to level until you have attained the top of the chain—there are also different types which you can take because psychology simply cannot be contained in a single level. There are far too many factors that come with psychology for it to simply remain in a linear kind of style, although you still need to go through psychology in a linear level. The difference is that you make the decision on where you want to be in the world of psychology.

The very first step to attaining anything in psychology would be to get a BA (Bachelor of Arts) or a BS (Bachelor of Science) in psychology first. Getting a degree this way is not difficult, but it can take time and is not suited for anyone with a fickle mindset. Once you have managed to get your degree, then all the various psychology degrees are open to you. For example, you may want to get a master’s degree in counseling—these people help as counselors in schools. Perhaps your calling is in child or maybe adolescent psychology? That type of psychology is open to you as well. Educational psychology is a great course for anyone who wishes to teach the essentials of psychology to others.

If you are aiming for the top however, a PhD in clinical psychology could be just the thing for you. This type of psychology degree is the highest you can go, and you can easily start your own practice. Or you can also get PsyD in psychology as well, which is also considered to be the highest psychology has to offer but in a different league as those with a PhD. Either way, you will be given a chance to become a licensed psychologist with these two types of psychology degrees.
